On the 9th December has been open to public the new Regional Museum in Messina. It offers over 4500 square meters of show rooms and presents a collection of over 300 masterpieces among which the Madonna col Bambino by Antonello da Messina, the Resurrection of Lazzaro by Caravaggio, and the original of the statue of Neptune by Montorsoli.
It is now the second largest museum in southern Italy after the Capodimonte Museum.
The Museum is located in the Annunziata district, northern part of the city, in a very panoramic position and it can be easily reached by tramway. A very large car park is available close by.
Opening hours : Tuesday / Saturday 09.00 / 18.30; Sundays and Holidays 09.00 / 12.30; Mondays closed.
